Update On The Bridge To Nowhere

Published by marrslw at 5:57 pm under News and Politics Edit This

The bridge was to be a link between the city of Ketchikan to the Island of Gravina where only a few dozen live.  This was a very important project to the people who lived on Gravina island who still use boats to reach the city.

According to Mayor Bob Weinstein a Democrat and Mike Elerding a Republican who was Palin’s campaign coordinator in the city of Ketchikan, she was insulted by the term “bridge to nowhere,” when she ran for Governor in 2006.  Later in her term changed her mind about the bridge earning her points with earmark critics but the money was never returned.

According to a Reuters news article:

The state, however, never gave back any of the money that was originally earmarked for the Gravina Island bridge, said Weinstein and Elerding.

In fact, the Palin administration has spent “tens of millions of dollars” in federal funds to start building a road on Gravina Island that is supposed to link up to the yet-to-be-built bridge, Weinstein said.

That is a major flip flop on this issue.  Palin says her record is one thing but the more that comes out on her, it is surely another.  As a matter of fact she is being kept from the media.  On Sunday news shows she was the only one of the four people in this race that did no interviews.  The Republicans are hiding her from the media until they can get her answers down on the lack of truth about her record.  This person is hardly a reformer, she is a symbol of how the Republican/Bush spin machine has taken over John McCain’s campaign.  Another symbol how John McCain has let his party cloud his judgment, and make choices that are not good for the American people.  Picking Sarah Palin without doing proper background checks, hiring Tucker Eskew, the man that slandered him in the 2000 South Carolina primary by saying his adopted daughter Bridget was a child he had out of wedlock by a black woman, causing him to lose the election.  This country doesn’t need another 4 years of fear and smear.  We don’t need another VP like Dick Cheney.  We don’t a man that has voted in the senate over 90% of the time with George W. Bush.  We need Barack Obama!!
